My first encounter with an art medium was the crayon. Crayola’s box of 64, the smell, hmm,the sight of all those little soldiers lined up waiting for me to put them to work, Heaven! Well this fascination with all things “art” continued into adulthood. I majored in art in high school and continued my education at the School of Visual Arts where I earned a BFA in Illustration. I worked as a graphic designer for years and after I had a family, I decided to change direction. I found myself teaching art to pre-schoolers, fell in love with the idea of passing on the Legacy of the Crayon. I realized that teaching was inspiring, challenging and so fulfilling. So back to school I went, gathering art education credits and completing a Master’s degree. Through the years I have taught at every grade level including adult education as well, and I have settled comfortably at what I feel is one of the most inspiring age groups, teenagers. I have been teaching art at the high school level for the past 12 years.
